what are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Rift also uses your browser's local storage, which works the same way but is never sent to our server. This page lists both. We use them only to make the site work: sign-in, security, your cart, the display currency you pick, and remembering that you have seen the cookie notice.
cookies we use
| cookie | type | duration | purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| __Secure-authjs.session-token | Essential | 30 days | Keeps you signed in |
| __Host-authjs.csrf-token | Essential | Session | Protects sign-in forms against cross-site request forgery |
| __Secure-authjs.callback-url | Essential | Session | Returns you to the right page after sign-in |
| rift_consent_ack | Essential | 10 minutes | Records that you ticked the Terms and Privacy box before Steam sign-in; required to start sign-in |
| currency | Functional | 1 year | Remembers the display currency you pick in the currency switcher; set only when you choose one |
| rift-cart-v1 | Essential (local storage) | Until cleared | Holds the items in your cart |
| rift_cookie_consent | Essential (local storage) | Until cleared | Remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so it is not shown again |
Required for the site to function (sign-in and security). Cannot be disabled.
None. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, pixels or local storage.
managing cookies
There is nothing optional to switch off: everything above is needed for the site to work, except the currency cookie, which is set only when you choose a currency yourself. The button in the cookie notice only closes it. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings; you will be signed out and your cart will be emptied.
